This natural lot comes to us from the Hambela, Buku Sayisa district of the Oromia region. Located between 1800-2200masl, the area is renowned for its organic coffee production. A significant number of smallholder farmers contribute to this production and employ agroforestry practices while doing so.
After being handpicked and sorted, the farmers bring the cherries to the Buku Sayisa Natural processing site to be dried for 12-15 days. During this time, they are significantly influenced by the surrounding climate, including wind, cloud cover, and sunlight, until they reach a moisture content of 10-12%. Once the lot is finished drying, it’s hulled, bagged, and transported for export.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. It is one of the largest producers of Arabica and the flavors range from rich and earthy to vibrant and complex.
